Smoothie, Smoothie, Smoothie!

I think that I keep coming back to breakfast for this new rubrique because it seems to be what you are all looking for: easy and healthy. Something that will take no time to prepare while making sure that our little ones have everything they need for a good and efficient start of the day. I understand the importance of that!

Smoothies in the morning means fresh fruit in the morning. It can also mean protein, veggies, and other nutrients. I try to go with seasonal fruits but the winners in my house seems to be pineapples and bananas, which are available all year long.

No matter when or what here is what always goes into my kids smoothies:

  • Homemade almond milk (any kind of milk works, it is just that almond tends to be our favorite)
  • Vanilla protein powder (again use the kind that works for you; vegan, whey, fruit flavor…)
  • Sometimes 1 add a cup of oats, flaxseed meal, chia seeds, any kind of nuts I have at hand, nut butter,  avocado, raw cacao, dates…

You have to experiment and see what works for your family, but smoothies are a really delicious and smart way to make sure we start the day with all the right nutrients!

The tip:

If you start your mornings with smoothies, I truly believe you'll feel more focused, as your body has a lot of substance to run on.

Feel free to add in anything that I listed above as well as come up with your own additions to your smoothie - I don’t think you can go wrong with this.
