Parsnip and pear soup

This sweet and nutty soup is absolutely divine and will be a hit with everyone, especially with kids!


  • 1 large onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 celery stick, roughly chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp of ground cumin
  • 1 lb of parsnip, peeled and chopped
  • 3 pears, peeled and chopped
  • 4 cups of stock
  • 2 tbsp of chopped parsley for garnish
  • Optional: goat cheese crumbs


Heat oil in a pan and add the onion, celery and garlic. Cover and cook gently for 10min until softened. Stir in cumin and cook for 1min.

Add parsnips and stock; cover and simmer for 10min.  Add the pears to the pot, simmer, covered, for 5min. Cool a little. Whiz in a food processor until smooth.

Ladle into bowls and garnish with parsley and goat cheese.
