Makes 1 tree

This is the kind of snack and treat I love making during the Holidays. It is super festive, it always is a crowd pleasure, it is super easy to make and it is delicious.... I mean this sounds like a no brainer, right?!

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, store bought thawed
  • 1/2 cup of pesto sauce ( tore bought works great but I have a couple of recipes on the blog if you want to make it)
  • 1/2 cup of cheese (parmesan and mozzarella)
  • 1 egg
  • Toppings: everything but the bagel seasoning, olives, capers, dried tomatoes,...

Directions

Preheat the oven at 375F. Line up a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the first layer of puff pastry on it and cut it like a tree ( like a triangle and small rectangle for the foot).

Spread the pesto sauce leaving 1/2 inch border free all around. Sprinkle the cheese on top and cover with the second layer of puff pastry. Try as best a possible to cut it the same shape as the first one and gently press the borders together. On each long sides of the triangles cut 5-6  lines and twist each twice to make them look like branches.

Whisk the egg with a fork and brush it all over to give it a nice golden color when it will bake. Sprinkle any of the toppings you want to make them look like ornaments or keep it clean.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed up, golden brown and crisp. Tear it apart and enjoy!
