Turkey Bolognese

Bolognese is an easy out for busy days. Plus it freezes well, so I always make extra and keep it in the freezer for super busy days!!!


  • 1 lb of ground turkey
  • 1 can of tomatoes (24oz)
  • 1 cup of fresh cherry tomatoes, cut in 2
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 bunch of fresh basil leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


In a medium pot, sauté the onion and garlic with the olive oil ( without burning it) for a couple of minutes. Add the meat and cooker 5-7 minutes, season with salt and pepper. Add the jar of tomatoes and the cherry tomatoes and the basil leaves ( you will remove them later so it is easier if  you leave them whole).

Bring to a boil and let it simmer fro 10-15 minutes. Discard the basil.

Serve with pasta, maybe some more fresh basil and grated parmesan.
